Executive Summary
Grant Street Dancehall is a beautiful and historical 100-plus-year-old brick and cypress building originally built as a Fruit Warehouse in 1898 and was used for nothing more than fruit or grain storage for many years. Built 3 feet off the ground, the building was designed to allow easy loading and unloading of trucks and train cars in the rear. Access to the loading docks remains today. The beautiful brick walls and wooden floors remain in a very much original fashion. Converted to a dancehall circa 1980, the list of great American artists that have graced the stage are endless. Grant Street is not just your average honky-tonk, it is an institution, an icon, and gateway into the heart of a unique and thriving culture that exists in Downtown Lafayette.A major air conditioning installation was done in 2007, along with converting a 2,000 sq. ft. storage room into what now is referred to as "The Saloon".This property is located in 1) Lafayette Downtown Development District, 2) Lafayette Downtown Cultural District, 3) Lafayette Historical District, and 4) Federal Opportunity Zone making is a great candidate for many tax benefits & credits for restoration along with other downtown incentives.
